Crucial sequence in his upcoming film called off over a spat between action men from Hyderabad and Mumbai
Salman Khan's shoot of Mental in Lavasa came to a screeching halt oversimmering tension between action artistes from Mumbai and Hyderabad.The spat is over allegations that the production team is biased towards Bollywood performers.
Trouble erupted over the weekend when 30 fighters from Hyderabad andChennai were called in for an action sequence. Even as the crew prepared for the shoot, the group from the south realised that they were inadequately represented in comparison to their Mumbai peers. It emerged that there were only three Southern fighters for every seven from Bollywood.
Even as they brought this to the notice of Salman and Sohail, it was made clear that no changes would be made to the ratio. The disgruntled fighters, some of whom had worked inthe original film, Stalin , featuring Chiranjeevi, called up FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) officials in Mumbai, but only to be told that their argument held no water.
Sounding a defiant note, a senior FWICE official, on condition of anonymity told TOI, "When they shoot Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam or Kannada films in Mumbai, we ensure there are more representatives from the South in every department. Their demand for equal representation is unjustified."
The fighters from the South also discovered that were being paid 50 per cent less than their Mumbai counterparts. Consequentially, they dug in their heels, and refused to participate in the shoot, despite repeated entreaties from Salman and Sohail.
According to a source from the film unit: "The entire sequence has come to a standstill over this imbroglio."
Two senior officials -Shiva and Vijayan - from the Film Employee's Federation of South India, are in Mumbai to end the impasse. The FWICE official added: "With neither ofthe parties willing to budge, this has become a rather sensitive matter."

Today when i was travelling in the metro back from laxshmi nagar in blue line,i got a seat in d women's coach and there was dis cute kid smiling at me,she smiled and was looking at my chocolate in my hand,i offered her one and she held my hand..her mom smiled..they had to get down at indraprasth but the kid wasn't leaving my hand and i had heard her mom talkin on the phn dat her father was unwell and she was rushin home..just to give dat child happiness,i got down cz she wantd to b wid me..

Punjab Food Dept ready for wheat procurement
LAHORE – Secretary Food Punjab Maj (r) Azam Salman Khan Saturday presided over a meeting of all the Divisional Deputy Directors of Food Department. Director Food Punjab and Deputy Directors Food gave detailed briefing to Secretary Food regarding wheat procurement arrangements and informed that Food Department was completely ready for wheat procurement.
The meeting decided that due to delay in harvesting of wheat as a result of seasonal situation, bardana (gunny bags) will be issued to district Rajanpur and Bahawalpur division from April 20, district DG Khan, Muzaffargarh and Multan, Faisalabad and Lahore divisions from April 22, Sahiwal and Sargodha divisions from April 25 while Gujranwala, Rawalpindi divisions and district Layyah from April 26.
Secretary Food issued directions that process of wheat procurement should be transparent and in accordance with rules and regulations.
He said that no irregularity and partiality should be tolerated in procurement of wheat and strict legal action be taken against the person responsible in this regard. He made it clear that strict disciplinary action will be taken against the supervisory officers if they failed to take timely action.
Punjab records 130% increase in sugar production in 4 years
Though India's sugar production this year (till March end) fell by two percent compared to last year, Punjab has recorded a 9 percent increase in sugar production this year as compared to 2011-2012. With this increase, Punjab has recorded an astonishing 130 percent increase in sugar production in the past four years — from 18.20 lakh quintals in 2009-10 to 42 lakh quintals in 2012-13.
The rise in production has been attributed to increase in area under sugarcane cultivation (anywhere from 90,000 hectares to 1 lakh hectares) and better yield.
"The sugarcane crushing season, which started in November 2012, has recorded around 42 lakh quintals of sugar for 2012-13 season as compared to 38.50 lakh quintals last year," said Punjab Cane Commissioner Dr Ranjit Singh.
He added that there are 16 sugar mills — including nine cooperative mills — which have crushed nearly 460 lakh quintals of cane this season. The mills collectively crush nearly 47,000 tonnes of sugarcane every day.
"We are expecting an increase of nearly 3.50 lakh quintals to 4 lakh quintals this year," said Dr Singh.
Continuing its last year's achievement, Mukerian sugar mill, a private mill, crushed the highest amount of cane this season at 61 lakh quintal.

Shahrukh Khan Signs BAJIRAO MASTANI Opposite Katrina And Deepika.
There are always speculations about top Bollywood stars in media and especially about their forthcoming films. Shahrukh Khan signs a film and that becomes news overnight. We came to know yesterday from well placed source that Shahrukh has given nod to one mega film recently.
There are runors that Shahrukh might do next Karan Johar film or next Anurag Basu film. These films are still under development but there is one surprise news for all SRK fans. Yes, Shahrukh has signed the film and also he is assembling the ideal cast for this epic.
Source told boc,"Shahrukh recently said that he does not like to talk about his upcoming films anymore. That is why Shahrukh has given strict instructions to people around that no news about his upcoming films should be leaked." But then we heard it from horse's mouth.
We reported yesterday that Katrina and Deepika will be playing key characters in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's long delayed jinxed project "Bajirao Mastaani". But the truth is Shahrukh has signed the project and he is making sure that right cast is added to the much awaited saga.
Shahrukh and Salman were the first choice for the project but Bhansali zeroed on King Khan in last few months when during shoot of "Ram Leela" talks reached to an advance stage with SRK and Deepika. Shahrukh brought Katrina on board to make it a casting coupe.
Official announcements regarding the same will happen in some time. If everything goes fine this will be SRK's next mega budget project with Bhansali after critically acclaimed and hit "Devdas". Film is expected to go on floor in 2014 March.
