Update 2: Records fall to Chris Gayle as RCB swamp PWI to go top:
BANGALORE: No force in the world could stop Chris Gayle from exploding on a hapless Pune Warriors India. The Jamaican entertainer was ruthless, unstoppable and blemishless as he cut a deep, unforgettable swathe through the Aaron Finch-led side with a whirlwind 66-ball unbeaten 175.
The records that fell by the wayside overshadowed the whopping 130-run victory that Royal Challengers Bangalore scored at the M Chinnaswamy stadium here on Tuesday.
Thanks to the opener's power-hitting, RCB rolled to a record-breaking total too - 263 for 5, beating CSK's 2010 total of 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals. No bowler - from Ashok Dinda to Mitchell Marsh - was spared as Gayle first figured in a 84-ball, 167-run first-wicket partnership with Tillakaratne Dilshan before winging ahead with a fruitful association with AB De Villiers.
That Dilshan contributed a mere 33 runs in that defining partnership tells a story in itself. Chasing an insurmountable total, Pune finished at 133/9 with Steve Smith (41) and Marsh (25) chipping in with their bits.
A rain interruption during the second over of the day that halted the game for 22 minutes proved to be an early dampener but once the RCB openers stepped out, the Gayle mantra was on everybody's lips at the Chinnaswamy.
Every delivery that Gayle singled out for special treatment either beat the fielder near the fence or disappeared into the stands. He smashed Ranji Trophy's highest wicket-taker Ishwar Pandey for three straight boundaries.
Then came Australian pacer Marsh only to have his pride severely dented when Gayle sent him for two back-to-back sixes to long-on and extra cover before following it up with a boundary over point. He then lifted two straight sixes over the sightscreen to reap 28 runs in the over.
After surviving a leg-before appeal by Ali Murtaza, Gayle was a lot more aggressive. He swatted Finch for 29 runs as RCB scampered to 100 runs in just 7.5 overs.
Soon he sent Dinda soaring over long-off to set an all-time record of fastest 100 in T20, needing just 30 balls to achieve it. Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball effort was history. Prior to that, Gayle had raced to 50 in 17 balls, equaling Adam Gilchrist's mark.
Eventually, when he carried the bat for an utterly entertaining 175, Gayle had the record of the highest individual score in the history of T20 also in his clasp.
The knock contained 17 towering sixes - one of them forcing the umpires to pick a new ball - and 13 boundaries, putting to shade the previous best of 158 by KKR's Brendon McCullum in Bangalore in 2008. McCullum needed 73 balls to reach 150 while Gayle just took 53 balls.
De Villiers too joined the fun with a cameo of 31 (3x6, 3x4) from just eight balls to light up the end overs.
Gayle was in the thick of action in the PWI's innings too, bagging two wickets in the space of three balls in the last over and thrilling the near-capacity crowd with his Gangnam-style jig for each wicket he claimed.
He even poked fun at his former KKR team-mate Ashok Dinda, making a throat slashing gesture as the batsman walked up to the striker's end to open his account. RCB pace duo of Ravi Rampaul and Jaydev Unadkat chipped in with two wicket each.
Dhoni to Bolt, twitter world salutes 'King Gayle':
NEW DELHI: From India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to sprint king Usian Bolt, the twitter world on Tuesday went crazy after Chris Gayle's breathtaking T20 world record score of 175 off 66 balls.
Everyone doffed their hats at the Jamaican after he produced what will go down in history as the most talked-about innings in T20 cricket.
Dhoni, in fact, paid a tribute, joking that it was a good decision in hindsight that he took up wicketkeeping instead of bowling after watching Gayle's relentless onslaught.
"Life is all about taking the right decision, seeing Gayle bat today I think I took the right decision of being a wicket keeper," Dhoni tweeted.
If that was not enough, he again showed his witty side after the 'Sir Jadeja series'.
"HAL suspends all test flts of TEJAS Light combat aircraft wenever RCB plays in banglore, no wonder its behind schedule.thanks to Gayle," was another of his tweets.
Here are some of the other tweets of former cricketers and team owners that have been compiled.
Usain St. Leo Bolt "@usainbolt Masterful performance @henrygayle"
Brian Lara "@BrianLara I like that one wen "Gayle bats fielders become spectators and spectators become fielders" chilling @ home watching some awesome hitting."
Shilpa Shetty "Unbelievable inning by Gayle! ThankGod we r not at the receiving end!!ha ha ha;) Incredible..he makes it all look so easy!"
Ashwin Ravichandran "@ashwinravi99 All the batsmen are happy tweeting about the massacre. From a bowlers perspective(Bowling machines need to be an option too).haha#PepsiIPL."
Dean Jones "@ProfDeano Pune wanted to declare the bowling after Gayle got to his 100! Mercy rule should be envoked! #IPL2013"
Harbhajan Singh "Gayle gayle gayle all the way. Never seen something like this.jamiacan style maaaan.gayle rule.wow this is insane.yaaa maaan"
Rohit Sharma "@ImRo Practice cancelled due to bad whether here. Time to put our feet up and enjoy the Gayle storm"
Darren Sammy "@darrensammy Omg @henrygayle he's not human..he's a tsunami mixed with a nuclear bomb @ipl"
Suresh Raina "@ImRaina A ball just flew past Chepauk! Did it come from Chinnaswamy??????"
Dale Steyn "@DaleSteyn62 WOW!!! Take a bow Mr Gayle! That's landed at Bangalore airport."
Delhi Daredevils back to losing ways:
NEW DELHI: Joy has been a rare commodity for the Delhi Daredevils this season. The delight of their nine-wicket thrashing of the Mumbai Indians last Sunday was short-lived as the home side landed with a thud at the Ferozeshah Kotla with a five-wicket loss at the hands of Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday.

The Daredevils' planning was awry right from the selection of the side on a slow-turning track. The decision to drop left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem was proved to be a poor one as tweakers from both sides prospered on the Kotla track.
Kings XI always had the match in control once they restricted the Daredevils to 120/7. The chase had its wobbles at 50/3 and then 70/4 but for the Delhi bowlers the total was too meagre to defend.
The Daredevils have now been condemned to their seventh loss in eight games with only a mathematical chance left of qualifying for the later stages.
In-form Mandeep Singh blasted 24 off 15 balls with five boundaries to ease the task for the visitors. It was left to the two Davids — Miller (34 n.o., 39b, 3x4) and Hussey (20, 21b, 1x4, 1x6) — to complete the formalities.
The latter fell with the target in touching distance but the result was inevitable. Earlier, logical thinking took a back seat - like it has for most of this season - as the Delhi Daredevils batsmen threw their wickets away even as David Warner (40, 36b, 4x4, 1x6) waged a lone furrow.
Australian Warner, demoted to No. 4 in the batting order, was the only one who put up a semblance of a fight as Daredevils posted 120 for seven after Kings XI sent them in.
The woeful display started right at the start with skipper Mahela Jayawardene walking back with merely four on the board. His partner, Virender Sehwag (23, 21b, 2x4, 1x6) looked in good touch although nowhere near the destructive mood he was in on Sunday against Mumbai.
The move to send South African Roelof van der Merwe (8) at No. 3 came a cropper as he found the slow nature of the Kotla track hard to handle. The military-medium pace of Harmeet Singh (3/24) did most of the damage for Kings XI.
His biggest scalp was Sehwag, who spooned a catch to Mandeep Singh at covers. Manprit Juneja (14) and Kedar Jadhav (0) were his other two victims even as Warner watched the procession from the other end.
The Australian opener didn't find any support from the middle-order as Delhi collapsed to 89/6 by the 15th over.
The world around him has changed, but Tendulkar is still not out:
MUMBAI: An anonymous quote reads, "Forty isn't old, if you're a tree." Indeed, forty isn't old even when you're Tendulkar. Or so his zillion fans would like to believe because ever since he held a cricket bat with his unique bottom-handed grip, he always had the ability to make his admirers suspend belief. Through his logic-defying performances, he often made the clock stop and appeared timeless.
As former Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori so perceptively analysed, "He's been in form longer than some of us have been alive." Mind you, Vettori (34 now) himself has played international cricket since he was 18.
Tendulkar, for most Indians and cricket lovers, has been a habit. And a bloody good one ever since he made his debut on November 15, 1989, exactly 23 years, five months and nine days ago.
How far back is that? Analyse this. You still didn't have cable tv then. Remember how you ran up to the terrace and twisted and turned your antenna when the pictures of your tv set were distorted. It's a far cry from today when your smart LED and Digital Set Top Box beams every bit of sporting action around the globe.
Tendulkar made his debut two months before Maine Pyar Kiya was released and made Salman Khan who he was. The other Khan, Shah Rukh, had tasted some 'success' through Fauji and that got him the protagonist's role in Circus.
The Baazigar's arrival was still a good four years away. The legendary Amitabh Bachchan had failed as a politician and had lost his relevance as an actor. Most Bollywood movies lacked content and context.
Want more dips in the pool of nostalgia? Splash! How cool were you if you happened to watch The World This Week every Friday night. Didn't that girl in your neighbourhood speak five minutes longer to you than most other guys who didn't own that heavy rectangular box called the VCR? Didn't people admire your PC as if it was the eighth wonder of the world?
Is all this a blur? Of course it is. We're talking about an India in 1989.. http://dev.buzz.mw/a8rxqj

Shahrukh Khan likely to replace Salman Khan in BIG BOSS 7. Show to go on air end of this air!

Salman Khan enjoys rides at India’s first international theme park Adlabs Imagica

India’s first international theme park, Adlabs Imagica, is now open for public, but it was Salman Khan who first made a trip to this one-of-its-kind amusement park, situated at Sangewadi, some 62 miles south-east of Mumbai. Last week, Salman went there and enjoyed some fun rides besides posing for the photos.

The star was casually dressed in ‘Being Human’ tee and tracks. He also posed standing in front of ‘Mr. India’ ride. The ride is inspired from the 1980’s superhit film starring Anil Kapoor as Mr. India and Sridevi as a reporter.

Marital status: Single
Occupation: Actor
Salman Khan is an Indian actor and philanthropist who is known around the world for his romantic action comedies. The superstar is one of the three “Khans of Bollywood” and is reputed as one of the most bankable leading men in the Indian film industry. Salman Khan has appeared in over 80 Hindi films, numerous TV commercials and reality shows and also he often walks the ramp for leading Indian fashion designers. He was voted the seventh best-looking man in the world by People magazine in 2004 which also voted him the best looking man in India for the year.
Salman Khan has been active in the Hindi film industry since 1988 and has been the star of many blockbuster hits in Bollywood. His most recent venture, “Ek Tha Tiger”, has become the highest grossed Indian movie both in the country and worldwide with box office collections crossing $43 million in the first 12 days of the movie’s opening. As of 2012, Salman Khan’s net worth is estimated to be around $25 million.
Salman Khan is one of the most noted philanthropists in Bollywood and he often lends his star power to a number of charitable causes. Salman Khan started a non-profit organization called ‘'Being Human: The Salman Khan Foundation" in July 2007. The charitable trust sells lifestyle products like watches and t-shirts online and in stores with a portion of the sales proceeds funding the foundation. The charity focuses on two main causes- healthcare and education for the underprivileged. The foundation also undertakes initiatives like Being Human Gitanjali Gold Coins and Being Human Art which also supplement the funding for the charity.
Salman Khan also owns a production company called Salman Khan Being Human Productions (SKBH Productions). Profits generated from films produced under the banner are also forwarded to the Being Human Foundation. In January 2012, Salman’s foundation offered to pay $72,400 to secure the release of 400 prisoners from various prisons in the state of Uttar Pradesh. These prisoners had finished the term of their sentences but were being held in prison for non-payment of legal fines for their charges.
Salman Khan is an avid bodybuilder and his physique remains one of the most idolized ones in the country. During his 24-year career in Bollywood, Salman has also at the center of many controversies. In 2002, Salman was arrested for negligent driving and culpable homicide after his car ran into a bakery and killed one person. The charges were later dropped. In 2006, Khan was found guilty of hunting the Chinkara, a protected dear species and was handed a one year prison term. A subsequent hearing saw the actor being slapped with a five-year jail sentence though he was granted bail after he was remanded to the Jodhpur jail for three day. As of July 2012, charges in the case have been finalized against Khan and others involved in the case which have paved the way for the beginning of the trial.
Like most Bollywood celebrities, Salman Khan has been romantically linked with almost every actress he has worked with. His first official girlfriend was model and actress Sangeeta Bijlani. Despite being in a serious relationship, the couple broke up in the early ‘90s. In the mid-‘90s, Salman began dating U.S.-born Indian actress Somy Ali though the relationship ended after just a few years. Salman Khan then started dating former Miss India and his co-star in the 1999 film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” Aishwarya Rai. The much publicized affair, however, came to a bitter end in 2002 when Rai alleged that Salman had been abusive towards her and had even assaulted her physically at one instance.
Salman Khan met British Indian model/actress Katrina Kaif while the former was struggling to get her career in Bollywood started. Salman took the starlet under his wing and introduced her to big name producers. Despite her poor Hindi accent, Kaif landed a number of meaty roles in major film productions due to Salman’s influence in the industry. However, Kaif’s independent success later in her career soured the relationship between the two. Their seven-year-long relationship ended after Salman infamously told the media that he was “single” to which Kaif replied “If Salman is single, so am I”.

Salman endlessly retweeted about the place and how amazing it is, and even posted pictures of his fun day out. Salman was accompanied by Ashmit Patel, Mohan Shetty and Creative Director of Adlabs Imagica Aarti Shetty on his visit. Dressed casually in a ‘Being Human’ tee and tracks, the macho superstar was all smiles as he rode the famous ‘Mr. India’ ride, and even posed for pictures alongside it.
